So who is “this guy Gruber”?
Jonathan Gruber is an MIT economist who was paid an unholy amount of taxpayer dollars at the state and federal levels to a) assist in the writing and production of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, ACA, or Obamacare) and b) speak and work in various states to sell it to the American people. Recently a handful of videos have been uncovered, showing that speaking and working in action.
Basically, his message was that he was paid to hoodwink everybody who's not an MIT economist. He was paid to organize the health insurance law in such a way that the Congressional Budget Office would conclude the bill was deficit-neutral when it clearly wasn't, and to ensure that nobody would understand the law's reality until it was too late.
It wasn't a hotshot investigative reporter who uncovered those videos. It was a "mild-mannered investment advisor," according to Forbes.com writer David Weigel.

That in itself is newsworthy. So, um, where were the press?

Gruber has been in the spotlight before. A few months ago, when the Halbig and King cases began making waves regarding whether or not subsidies could be paid through an exchange established by the federal government or only through one established by a state, several videos of Gruber came to light where he basically made the conservative case for them. More than once, he said in front of a camera that the tax credits (subsidies) could only be provided through state exchanges, and it was designed that way deliberately to encourage the states to set up exchanges.
From the excellent blog Legal Insurrection and William A. Jacobson (note: this is from July 2014):

Investors Business Daily online noticed, too (also in July 2014):
Case Against the D.C. Court's Halbig Ruling Crumbles
The core question of the tax credits (subsidies) has gone to the Supreme Court, as discussed last week. Gruber's "speak-o," as he called it, won't help the government's case.
The new round of videos, while uncovered this last week, date from 2010 through 2013. In them, Gruber gives speeches at various organizations; he clearly believes himself to be in friendly territory. In these videos, he openly discusses the "stupidity" (his word, not mine) of the American voters and their lack of education regarding economics. Other topics he covers are the necessity of hiding the multitude of taxes required to make the law work (it's basically a tax on the healthy to take care of the sick), how the law was arranged to fool the Congressional Budget Office, and how political transparency would have prevented the law from being passed.
A few discussions. Again from Legal Insurrection, this time written by Amy Miller:

So the question becomes, what effect will these revelations have on the law? Back to Legal Insurrection and writers Aleister and Bryan Jacoutot, who point out that Gruber didn't pass the law all on his own:
